LINSANITY is taking over the New York area and the NBA in general as rookie phenom Jeremy Lin has come out of nowhere to bust onto the New York scene and lead the Knicks to a string of victories with his strong play.
Now fans are taking it to an even higher level by saying he should be in the NBA All Star Game or the Rookie Game or the Skills Competition/Three Point Shootout in Orlando next weekend.
Personally I think that is rushing things quite a bit. There is no doubt this kid has really taken the league by storm and captured the heart of New Yorkers similar to how Victor Cruz has done with the New York Giants. And once you are the darling of the NY media, you are going to be mentioned and seen EVERYWHERE.
However the sports purist in me feels the All Star Game is for legit all stars, not someone who could be a flash in the pan. Let Lin prove it over the course of a full NBA season and earn his stripes before just suddenly declaring him one of the best point guards in the league. It has been less than 10 games, afterall.
I don’t mean to take away from his outstanding performances at all but every player gets on a hot streak, the All Stars are the ones who maintain that level night in and night out year after year. He’s good, he just has to keep it going.
What do you think? Does Lin belong among the NBA elite already or does he have to prove it to you a little longer?
Sound off below with your thoughts and for those who want to attend the game, you can still find all star weekend and NBA All Star Game tickets online for the festivities in Orlando, Florida.
