Jack Hughes Expected to Be Ready for Team USA at Winter Olympics

The United States could receive a major boost ahead of the upcoming Winter Olympics, as New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes is expected to be available for the men’s hockey tournament in Milan.

According to reports, Hughes is likely to travel with Team USA and should be ready to play at or near the start of the tournament despite currently dealing with a lower-body injury. 

Injury Concern Eases for Team USA

Hughes has missed several games after suffering the injury in a matchup against the Nashville Predators, raising concerns about his Olympic availability. However, optimism has grown that the 24-year-old will recover in time to represent the United States on the international stage. 

The Devils star has dealt with multiple injuries over the past two seasons, including a shoulder issue that sidelined him late last year and another absence earlier this season. Despite those setbacks, Hughes remains one of the most dynamic offensive players in the NHL. 

Key Piece for a Medal Contender

Hughes has recorded 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 36 games this season, ranking among New Jersey’s top scorers even after missing significant time. His speed, playmaking ability, and offensive creativity are expected to play a major role for a U.S. squad widely viewed as a strong medal contender. 

This will not be Hughes’ first time representing his country. He previously competed internationally at multiple levels, including the World Juniors and the 4 Nations Face-Off, continuing a long history of success in U.S. colors. 

Eyes on Olympic Gold

Team USA opens tournament play against Latvia and enters the Olympics with high expectations. With a deep and talented roster, the Americans are considered one of the favorites to medal and potentially capture their first Olympic gold in men’s hockey since 1980. 

If Hughes returns to full health in time for the tournament, his presence could be a major factor in determining how far the United States can go in Milan.
