Charlie Woods Commits to Florida State, Continuing a Golf Legacy

Charlie Woods is taking the next major step in his young golf career and he’s keeping it close to home. The son of golf legend Tiger Woods has made a verbal commitment to play collegiate golf at Florida State University, signaling a significant milestone for one of the sport’s most watched rising stars.

Woods, currently a junior at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida, has steadily climbed the junior golf ranks and is now considered one of the top young prospects in the game. He sits at No. 21 in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) rankings, fueled by strong performances in elite events.

His biggest breakthrough came last May when he captured the Team TaylorMade Invitational, marking his first AJGA victory. He followed that up with a tie for ninth place at the Junior PGA Championship, further boosting his profile and drawing attention from top collegiate programs across the country.

A Powerful Recruiting Class at Florida State

At Florida State, Woods will join an already loaded recruiting class that includes Miles Russell, the No. 1 ranked junior golfer in the world. The pairing instantly raises expectations for the Seminoles and positions the program to remain a powerhouse in collegiate golf.

Florida State has a strong history of producing elite golfers, including major champions Brooks Koepka, Paul Azinger, and Jeff Sluman, a legacy Woods will now look to continue.

Following a Family Tradition

Charlie’s decision to stay in state mirrors a path once taken by his father. Tiger Woods famously chose to remain close to home early in his career before attending Stanford, where he played two seasons and launched his journey toward becoming one of the greatest golfers in history. Meanwhile, Charlie’s sister Sam currently attends Stanford, keeping the family’s academic and athletic ties strong.

While Charlie Woods still has time before arriving on campus, his commitment marks another chapter in a career that has been followed closely since childhood. With a growing list of achievements and a bright future ahead, the young Woods now begins preparing for the collegiate stage and perhaps, one day, the professional spotlight.
