Buffalo Bills Give Josh Allen a New Weapon by Acquiring D.J. Moore
The Buffalo Bills have made a major move to strengthen their offense, reportedly acquiring wide receiver D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears in a trade that could reshape both teams heading into the upcoming NFL season.
Multiple reports indicate the Bills are sending a 2026 second-round draft pick to Chicago, while also receiving Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick in return. The trade cannot officially be processed until the NFL’s new league year begins on March 11.
A New Weapon for Josh Allen
For Buffalo, the move adds an experienced and dynamic target for franchise quarterback Josh Allen. The Bills had been searching for another top receiving option to strengthen their passing attack, and Moore immediately fills that need.
Moore has built a reputation as one of the NFL’s most reliable receivers, capable of stretching defenses and producing big plays after the catch. His ability to operate both deep and across the middle could make him a key piece of Buffalo’s offensive plans moving forward.
The trade also reunites Moore with Bills head coach Joe Brady, who previously worked with him while serving as offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.
Moore’s Career and Contract

During the 2023 season with Chicago, Moore recorded 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, establishing himself as the Bears’ top receiving threat.
He later signed a four-year, $110 million contract extension with the Bears in 2024 that runs through the 2029 season, with an average annual salary of about $27.5 million.
Now, that contract and production move to Buffalo as the Bills look to maximize their championship window.

For Chicago, the trade appears to be both a financial and roster decision. Moore carried one of the largest cap hits on the team, and moving his contract provides flexibility as the franchise continues to build around young quarterback Caleb Williams.
